great buying experience, defiantly will be a repeat customer.

While I was out of town working, my wife’s 2013 Ford Escape was towed to DK Ford with smoke from the exhaust, loss of power, and a squealing noise. The dealership immediately jumped to recommending a complete engine replacement, citing “metal sparkles on the dipstick” and a failed turbo. When I pressed for details, the explanations shifted between staff, and I was told diagnostics were “not feasible or necessary.” In short, they dismissed basic checks that any technician would perform before declaring an engine condemned. For context: I’m a shop foreman with over 15 years in the automotive/heavy equipment trade. I asked for clear evidence — oil pressure test, compression test, cutting open the filter — and was basically refused. Instead, I was told this type of failure “always” kills the engine and that replacing just the turbo was pointless. They wanted to charge me $290 bucks for checking the oil, I seriously doubt it even made it into the shop. Here’s the reality: I replaced the turbo myself in my driveway. The vehicle has since driven over 10,000 kilometers, including a trip to the East Coast, without issue. The engine was fine. The only positive is they waived the diagnostic fee. But the way this was handled shows a lack of transparency, poor communication, and a tendency to push the most expensive repair without proper investigation. What worries me most is that any customer without my technical background could easily have agreed to thousands of dollars in unnecessary charges. I would strongly caution anyone bringing their vehicle here. If I hadn’t had the experience to question them, my wife might’ve paid for an unnecessary engine swap.
